Gunther Allen

Throughout my journey, I’ve worn many hats, each shaping my identity and fueling my passion for storytelling. Armed with a bachelor’s degree in music from Long Beach State, I embarked on a musical journey that took me across continents and stages, co-writing a musical in Long Beach that performed throughout Los Angeles.

In 1988, I proudly represented the LGBTQIA+ community on the volleyball court at the NAGVA North American Gay Volleyball Association Championships in Montreal. I later competed in the Vancouver 1989 International Gay and Lesbian Aquatic Championships, bringing home 1st place in water polo with the Los Angeles Water Polo Club. Inspired by my love for sports and community, I founded the Orange Juice Aquatics gay swim team in Laguna Beach, California, where I swam and coached our team to success at the Gay Games in 1994.
